The past year and a half has held a lot of transitions in my life. My father passed away. I moved my mother into a nursing home. I had to sell my childhood home, become power of attorney for my mom which then made me executor for her brother’s estate when he passed away. I am now trying to sell his home and handle both of their financial affairs in addition to my job as a CEO, executive coaching practice, and a family with six children.
I felt as if I was living a peaceful life and one thing after another compounded more responsibility on me than I never expected. Yet during all of this is when I started to knit and paint with watercolors. Yesterday my husband said that I’m ‘calmer’ than he’s ever known me to be. I attribute that to my mindful daily practices and simple goal setting that give me confidence, connection and calm.
I’m busy just like everyone else. I don’t have time for long journaling. Neither do my clients. I found myself buying weekly planners and writing mindful practices in the margins until I designed my own planning sheet to do this more simply. My clients loved it and asked me to convert it to a book so they didn't have to copy the sheet each week. I added sections for goal planning, strengths and visioning. This Flow-on-the-Go Guide has helped me convert feeling overwhelmed to clarity like nothing else I’ve ever done before.
Every morning I check off my three daily practices - yoga, drinking a full glass of water and meditation - in this colorful and fun planner. I revisit the three goals I set for the day from the night before. And at the end of the day I check off the ones I achieved, write what I’m grateful for and a word about how I’m feeling. There’s even space to note what’s changing and how I bring value. It takes a few minutes a day yet it’s changed my life and the lives of my clients.
I now see transitions as opportunities to better get to know myself as well as to appreciate the impermanence of life. I’ve released old patterns, know I deserve all that is good and accept joy in the moment. If you are searching for a new way of approaching life yet don’t have a lot of time on your hands I promise you this Flow-on-the-Go Guide will walk you through the steps. Success isn’t more time, money or status. Success is freedom. Get it here.
